The Illusionist vs. The Prestige

May 8, 2007 at 12:51 am (Movies)

Who is the winner? Well both of them have been out for quite a while, but I hadn’t seen them both until tonight. I’ve seen The Prestige a few times, but never The Illusionist. Even though they are both very good movies, it is clear to me which I favor the most: The Illusionist. They are both astonishing and insightful, but the cinematography, acting, writing, and underlying factors in The Illusionist completely blow The Prestige out of the water. Edward Norton is great in this film and so are his costars. In The Prestige, however, Christian Bale was amazing but Hugh Jackman was unpolished. Both stories implement mystery and small doses of suspense, but The Illusionist does so in a tightly schemed manner whereas The Prestige has many loose ends. I don’t really want to spoil the movies, so watch them like I did: slightly informed but not sure about what to expect. If you watch them with that mindset you won’t be disappointed.

Spiderman 3

May 4, 2007 at 6:06 pm (Movies)

I became a big fan of Spiderman when I was growing up, so I was very excited when I heard that they were making a movie about the superhero. Well, the first one came out and it was amazing. The best movie I had seen in a long time. Loved it. The second one came out, and it was well done… even though it had some cheesy moments at times. And the third, well, with its recent release you could assume that I was nothing short of stoked to go see it. I saw the midnight showing last night. It’s hard for me to form an opinion about it, too. I really wanted it to be the best one of the three, but, it wasn’t. The first one is by far my favorite, then the second, then the third. The third was jam packed with information, and it took away from the experience, not to mention a ten fold increase in cheesy moments from the second. The action was well done… Eddie Brock and Flint Marko were cast well, Kirsten Dunst was unfortunately still Mary Jane. On the flipside, Tobey Maguire did a wonderful job playing an emo asshole. This movie was worth going to see in the theatres just because I am such a huge fan, but if you aren’t, I suggest you wait a while.

Exams - done.

May 2, 2007 at 4:50 pm (School)

Finally, after months of work, I’m done with the spring semester! I’m very excited to move out of my dorm and back to my house, but it will be bittersweet because I won’t see the friends that I have made here at school. I’m ready to enjoy my summer! I’m taking a couple of summer classes this year including English and Physics. I’ll also be working at the golf course, hitting the gym, and relaxing. Man, I can’t wait for this summer to get kicked off! Time to finish packing my things.. You stay classy, planet Earth.

So it begins…

May 2, 2007 at 12:16 am (Random)

After contemplating whether or not to start a blog, I have finally made the decision that starting one would be in my best interest. I doubt I will provide the most exhilarating news and information throughout my writings, but I will definitely enjoy the process.

One of my goals in this blog is to express my beliefs. Religious, Spiritual, Political, Personal, and Ethical. But for now, I’ll just write a bit about me.

I have a thousand different faces, but this is me recently.

Me

So a little background information about me… I’m 20 years old, I’ll be 21 this month (sweet.) I’m a geology major at Middle Tennessee State University. I plan on graduating from MTSU within the next two years, and my next academic endeavor will hopefully land me in graduate school at Virginia Tech. I enjoy most sports, especially golf, racquetball, baseball, and soccer. I love music. Even though my musical taste varies, I most enjoy The Beatles, Jack Johnson, Dave Mathews, O.A.R., and the like. I will never limit my horizons when it comes to music because there is always a message to be heard in all songs. At my job, I’m able to listen to my iPod while I work. I work at the golf course (Old Hickory Country Club) that I grew up on, and I’ve worked there off and on for almost 6 years. I’ve been a cartboy and a groundsman, occasionally I worked both jobs. Right now I work primarily as a groundsman, taking care of the golf course. I’ll probably work here throughout college, because it is a wonderful summer job that I enjoy. That’s all for now! Ciao.
